Electric vehicles are no longer confined to early adopters or coastal markets; they’re showing up in everyday life across the country. From multigenerational households managing school drop-offs to renters in the Midwest navigating charging without a garage, EV ownership is expanding into real-world scenarios that reflect how Americans actually live. To capture that shift, Veloz, a national nonpartisan 501(c)(3) nonprofit, today announced the launch of its Real Stories hub on ElectricForAll.org, a brand-neutral interactive destination that brings together first-person stories from EV drivers across the United States.
Q1 2026 EV Market: A Challenging Quarter for New EV Sales in California, a Near-Record One for National Used EV Sales
In the first quarter of 2026, Californians purchased 63,461 new EVs, representing 15.7% of all new light-duty vehicle sales in the state. New EV sales were down 37% compared to Q1 2025 and down 20% from last quarter. This reflects a combination of factors, including an increase of new EV sales in the second half of 2025 due to Californians taking advantage of the federal tax credit before it expired, a decrease in overall new vehicle sales in Q1, and the growing uptake of used EVs.

What’s Changing Consumers’ Minds About EVs? New Survey Reveals Which Messages Break Through.
Sacramento, Calif. — Despite headlines suggesting waning enthusiasm for electric vehicles (EVs), a new national survey of non-EV drivers indicates EV adoption is being held back by a lack of practical information about real-world costs, home charging, and everyday usability. Exposure to clear, straightforward messages significantly increased purchase interest across all geographies, demographic groups, and political persuasion, showing EV adoption may be less about consumer resistance and more about insufficient information.
California Hits 2.5 Million New EVs Sold Milestone in Q4 2025
In Q4 2025, California surpassed a significant milestone with more than 2.5 million cumulative new EVs sold since 2011. Sales from the quarter added 79,066 new EVs, representing 18.9% of total light-duty vehicle sales, continuing the state’s steady pace of adoption at scale. Year-over-year, California’s EV market share shifted from 25.3% in 2024 to 22.9% in 2025, indicating relative stability given the federal policy changes affecting both incentives and consumer purchasing conditions.

The Great Debate: eGallon vs Gasoline
Sacramento, Calif. — The nonprofit Veloz, together with its electric vehicle (EV) education platform ElectricForAll.org, is helping drivers make sense of the “eGallon,” which is the electric equivalent cost to drive the same distance as one gallon of gasoline. The comparison is one of the great debates in the transportation sector, and the conclusion is consistent: EVs deliver strong economic benefits. In nearly every scenario, EVs cost less to fuel and less to operate on a per-mile basis than comparable gasoline vehicles.
