Xcel Energy – Colorado President Robert S. Kenney joins Veloz’s Board of Directors, bringing 30 years of regulatory, legal, governmental and public affairs experience to help address systemic barriers to widespread EV market growth.
Under Robert S. Kenney’s leadership in Colorado, Xcel Energy’s three-year 2024-2026 Transportation Electrification Plan committed more than $260 million in investments to expand charging programs, rebates and incentives.
The portfolio of programs supports the State of Colorado’s goal of putting 940,000 EVs on the road by 2030 and Xcel Energy’s goal of enabling charging infrastructure for 1.5 million EVs by 2050. More than 60% of EV charging projects funded by the utility’s $80 million infrastructure program benefits income-qualified and disproportionately impacted communities.
Together with state-led vehicle incentive programs, Xcel Energy – Colorado’s approach to improving EV affordability and charging access is driving the state to the forefront of the national clean transportation movement. The state now ranks second in the country for total share of EVs on the road!
“Our work at Xcel Energy – Colorado is deeply connected to Veloz’s vision for a zero-emission transportation future, and I am honored to join Veloz’s Board of Directors to help accelerate EV adoption. By creating a more sustainable grid and supporting EV drivers in our service territory, we can help improve the economic outlook in our communities.“
— Robert S. Kenney, President, Xcel Energy – Colorado
Welcome Xcel Energy to Veloz’s Membership!

Xcel Energy currently serves approximately 3.7 million electric customers and 2.1 million natural gas customers across eight states: Colorado, Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas and Wisconsin.
In 2018 Xcel Energy was the first major U.S. energy provider to establish a vision for providing 100% carbon-free electricity by 2050.
Since then, that commitment has expanded to include an ambitious clean transportation plan focused on making EVs more accessible for consumers, enabling the charging infrastructure for 1.5 million electric vehicles in the areas Xcel Energy serves and electrifying 20% of the company’s combined vehicle fleet by 2035.
Xcel Energy’s Clean Transportation Team plays a pivotal role in achieving the company’s transportation electrification goals by delivering programs tailored to meet state-specific EV targets, address local adoption barriers and create value for their customers.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Xcel Energy to Veloz as a new member and Robert S. Kenney to our Board of Directors. Xcel Energy and Robert’s leadership will be invaluable as Veloz advances our Electric For All goals and works to meet the needs of communities nationwide.”
