Transportation is the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in New Jersey — and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) is driving solutions to protect public health and the environment.
NJDEP has been incentivizing cleaner vehicles since 2005, and together with the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities and the New Jersey Economic Development Authority the three agencies have awarded over $700 million since 2019 to accelerate EV adoption, expand charging access, and bring clean transportation to their communities.
This investment has supported more than 58,000 electric passenger vehicle purchases, 1,400+ electric trucks and cargo vans, nearly 250 electric school buses, and over 12,000 charging ports across the state.
NJDEP’s multi-faceted approach to vehicle electrification directly aligns with Veloz’s mission to make clean transportation accessible for all. Together, we are helping more people drive electric, which improves air quality and advances a cleaner, more equitable transition to electric vehicles nationwide.

“We are thrilled to join Veloz and leverage their extensive experience and expertise in advancing electric vehicles. This collaboration marks an exciting step forward for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection as we work together to accelerate the transition to a cleaner, more sustainable transportation future.”

“We could not be happier to have the NJDEP join Veloz at a time when New Jersey’s EV market share is nearly 14%, their charging network is expanding across the state, and community-oriented clean transportation solutions are being researched and funded. Transportation electrification is crucial for improving the health and wellness of all Americans, and Veloz is excited to welcome NJDEP as we continue driving toward an Electric For All future.”
