Michael Brune, the Sierra Club’s executive director since 2010, is one of today’s most inspiring and effective environmental leaders. Prior to joining the Sierra Club, Brune led Rainforest Action Network. Under Brune’s leadership, the Sierra Club has grown to approximately 3 million supporters and is at the forefront of the drive to move beyond fossil fuels to 100% clean, renewable energy, while also protecting America’s remaining wild places. A nationally recognized writer, speaker, and commentator on energy and environmental issues, Brune is the author of Coming Clean: Breaking America’s Addiction to Oil and Coal (2010). He holds degrees in economics and finance from West Chester University in Pennsylvania.
