Mel Levine is counsel to the international law firm of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher where he was a partner for 19 years. He was a member of the U.S. Congress (D – CA), 1983-1993, and California Assembly (D – L.A.), 1977-1982. In public office, he was a leader on environmental and energy issues, having authored the California Solar Rights legislation and the California Energy Conservation tax credit as an Assemblyman.

Currently, he is Board of Commissioners President for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Advisory Board Chair at USC’s Center on Public Diplomacy, Pacific Council on International Policy board member, and advisory board member of the Goldman School of Public Policy, UC Berkeley. He received his J.D. from Harvard Law School, M.P.A. from Princeton University and A.B. from UC Berkeley. He and his wife, journalist Connie Bruck, have four children, Adam, Jake and Cara Levine and Ari Schlossberg.
