Amy Klinkenberger is senior manager within Mercedes-Benz Research and Development, steering the company’s zero-emission vehicle and automated vehicle technology rollout. She also serves as a board member for the Automotive Coalition for Traffic Safety, and the Automotive Information Sharing and Analysis Center.

Amy joined Mercedes-Benz in 2015, as principal engineer responsible for active safety systems, cybersecurity, and privacy. She next became senior manager of the regulatory affairs team, expanding her responsibilities into fuel economy and zero-emission vehicles.

Prior to joining Mercedes-Benz, Amy worked in the crash lab at the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute, focusing on occupant restraint systems. She then worked for a safety restraint supplier developing several innovative airbag technologies. She is a named inventor on over 10 patents and has more than 18 years of experience in automotive safety.

Amy holds a B.S. in Kinesiology with a focus on Injury Biomechanics from the University of Michigan.
